Shri Jagannath Temple, Hyderabad, Telangana, India
I've been to Shri Jagannath Temple twice so far and its about 2,500 sq. yards beautiful and very well maintained temple located on Road 12 -Banjara Hills, @ Hyderabad, Telangana State in India built in 2009 by the Kalinga Cultural Trust, a charitable trust established promoting Odisha culture and local Odia community.
Jagan meaning "Universe or World".
Nath meaning "Lord, Protector, Master".
Jagannath means " Lord/ Master/ Protector of the Universe/World".
Jagannath is an abstract representation of Shri Krishna and an avatar or incarnation of Lord Vishnu also known as Narayana is one of the principal deities of Hinduism.
Jagannatha is worshipped in Hinduism in India and neighboring countries as part of a trinity along with his older brother Balabhadra (also known as Balarama) and their younger sister Devi Subhadra which are carved out of Neem wood. There are other shrines inside the temple dedicated to Devi Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Devi Vimala/ Devi Bimala, Lord Hanuman and the Navagrahas.
It is said to be a replica of original Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha but I haven't seen the original temple in Odisha so I cannot write about the comparisons here.
This temple is made in red sandstone and it has a uniquely architectural design with two enormous statues of couching lion at the main entrance and definitely captures the attention of the art lovers with colorful sculptures, murals and intricate carvings on the outer and inner walls of the temple complex depicting events from the life of Lord Krishna (Jagannath).
Rath Yatra is the main festival of Orissa and this temple is famous for its annual Rath yatra festival with splendor and impressiveness.
The facilities at this temple are well-maintained by staff members. There is a large sit out area inside the premises where you can sit and enjoy the serene environment.
Ps:
1. There is a kiosk for purchasing "Prasadam" like "Khaja- A layered fritters soaked in sweet sugar syrup", "Gujjiya/ karanji - deep fried crescent shaped filled pastry " which are very tasty.
2. "Mahaprashad" is distributed to devotees free of cost after morning and evening aarti.
3. There is enough parking place around the temple near the entrance and exit (two different directions).
4. There is also shoe stand shed outside and the person who incharge charges Rs. 2 per person for safe keeping of footwear.
5. There is also a facility to wash one's feet before entering the divine sanctuary.
I would definitely go again may be next year and will add more photos to this blog
