Wallace Falls State Park, Gold Bar, Washington, USA
Wallace Falls is one of the most popular attraction with 4,700 acre park and an excellent hike location for both novice and experienced hikers in Snohomish County, Washington. This place is farther from Seattle but it was worth the drive.π
A discover pass is required for visitors to visit this State Park or you can purchase one at the trail-head near parking lot.
Now, some might ask what's a discovery pass ?
Washington State Legislature created the Discover Pass in 2011 to get access to millions of acres of state recreation lands in Washington including state parks, campgrounds, picnic areas, recreation trails, natural & wildlife areas.

Annual pass is $30 and Day pass is $10. I would suggest for people who are staying in Washington State to get Annual pass.

Frankly speaking I enjoyed the Wallace trails, which was well maintained by the State Park authorities. Initially there was a trail stretched in the open skies under the transmission towers, you could hear the buzzing of electricity passing thru the wires, but don't let the sound deter you. The rest of the trails was under the trees/forestπ²π³ with scenic beauty along the way where I could hear the river gushing at one side. π
There are various trails to go to the lower falls either easiest or a little challenging along the Wallace River.
Woody Trail
Railroad Grade trail
We took the Woody Trail to the Lower Falls. It was more than 2 hrs. to & fro leisurely hike for us to the Lower Falls. Lots of signs to follow for not getting lost in the middle of lush green forest which was very helpful for novice hiker like me. This trail was narrow and gets a little steeper as you go to middle falls but again one cannot expect any luxury in the forest.
There was a picnic shed at the lower falls for taking rest or having a snackππͺ. From this spot, I was able to view very unusual and beautiful sight of Lower Falls and the Middle Falls. I saw all ages on the trail from young kids to middle aged to seniors.
Next time I might take the Railroad Grade "trail" to get a different experience since I heard its more of a road.
Important Points to remember :
1. Do bring enough water as I didn't see any water fountains on the trail.
2. There is a restroom facility at the entrance but I haven't gone inside so I'm not sure.
3. Parking is challenging since this state park has limited car parking and during weekends it can get crowded and impossible to find car parking. Suggest you to plan early to find parking..
4. This is also a pet friendly trail.
This trails will always rank among the top of my list in Washington. I will definitely recommend to all who visit Washington state in future. Don't miss out!
