Every year on Govardhan we go to ISKCON temple for the Govardhan puja. The temple is beautifully decorated with strings of flowers and lights. So few may ask, What is a Govardhan puja? As you all know by now (if you have read my articles on Diwali ) that Diwali/ Deepavali is one of the biggest festivals celebrated and is celebrated for 5 days starting on the 13th day after the full moon or "Poornima" (is the word for full moon in Sanskrit). Day 1- Dhanteras. People worship Goddess Lakshmi ( Goddess of wealth) and Lord Kubera (God of wealth). Day 2 - On 14th day we celebrate Narak Chaturdashi or "Choti" Diwali which commemorates Lord Krishna and Satyabhama's victory over the demon king Narakasura. Day 3 - On 15th day which is Amavasya (or No moon day) we celebrate Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are worshipped everywhere. Day 4 - On 16th day we celebrate Govardhan Puja and we worship Lord Krishna. Day 5- On 17th day we celebrate Bhai Doo

Happy Fall, Y'all !!πππππ I can honestly say Fall or Autumn season is the most incredible time of the year apart from Spring with visible changes in mother nature with rusty and vibrant hues of yellow, orange, red and brown. As most of us know, on September 21st each year, we embrace the fall season with the arrival of the fall equinox (also known as the autumnal equinox ), the autumn leaves start to fall with cool and crispy air surrounding us, tempting us to have warm beverages all the time in a day wrapping in cozy Jackets or sweaters. I live in an area where "foliage " changes according to the seasons. My house is surrounded by trees producing the best and fullest fall foliage every year. In 2021, I wrote an article on " Enchanting Fall " , Do read this article as to how I enjoy the nature with Fall/autumnal leaf color changing to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, red and brown in September, October, November and with

Hey, It’s Diwali time !!! πͺπͺ Do check out my last year's article about how I celebrate this amazing dazzling festival every year π- https://sk-digilance.blogspot.com/2021/11/celebrating-dazzling-deepavali.html But to give you all some highlights, Diwali is one of my favorite festival where I do enjoy variety of homemade/ store bought lip smacking sweets and savories at least for few days during this festivities in-short a face full of sweets and a home full of diyas. ππ One of the best part of Diwali is the way it can bring many people ( from North- South- East- West) together, often only at this time of year to share a feast together dressing in colorful traditional clothing with lights decorated both inside and outside of homes. Hope you all agree with me....ππ Deepavali or Diwali symbolizes "positivity" is a Sanskrit term - Deepa - Lamps (Preferably Clay) or lights Avali - Row So, its "Row of lamps/ lights" symbolizing the vict

Lynn Canyon park is a hidden gem, a beautiful haven to me and one of the best place for hike with a suspension bridge in Vancouver. Opened in 1912 with 617 acres of forest land making it the largest park in North Vancouver. The Suspension bridge is small but It's free (you can make a donation at the ecology center). ( Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis photo - courtesy to google) For those who are fans of TV series such as Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, some parts of the show was filmed in this area. Amazing Isn't it !! I loved watching both the shows. I was searching online since there are lots of hikes around there to discover but found Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is often compared to the nearby Capilano Suspension Bridge which has admission fee of $55 for adults, $50 for seniors and $42 for students. I thought we visit the free park (Lynn Canyon Susp

We recently travelled to Canada for a week on a road trip. I will certainly write about each and every place I visited in this blog whenever I get time. So, do subscribe and check it out !!! We came across this dramatic 67-foot concrete white arch rises from the gardens on the U.S.-Canada border (US Interstate 5 - CAN Highway 99) between Blaine in Washington state and Surrey in British Columbia known as International Peace Arch, an iconic monument devoted to peace and serenity was constructed in the honor to the centennial of the treaties resulting from the War of 1812. Unfortunately the park was closed when we visited. I think COVID-19 triggered the closure of the park temporarily. But we came out of our car to snap some photos of the Arch. Worthy stop to see the Arch and a reminder that peace is possible. This area is the only place on the border where people can cross from either country to share the same space and be together but strictly under the surve

As I wrote before in https://sk-digilance.blogspot.com/2020/12/a-mandir-is-hindu-place-of-worship.html "temple" or "Mandir" is a place of worship to enlighten our souls with positiveness and request our deities to forgive our sins we have done knowingly and unknowingly. Bothell Hindu Temple is a traditional style temple designed with a South Indian style tower also called " Gopuram" on the top, the temple has a grand elevation and Dhwaja stumbha (flagstaff), a common feature of South Indian Hindu temples established in 1980's in Bothell , a city in the King and Snohomish counties, Washington, United States to worship Lord Venkateshwara , an avatar of Lord Vishnu, however other deities such as Lord Ganesh, Lord Rama-Laxman-Goddess Sita, Radha-Krishna and other God & Goddess idols are also situated in the second hall next to main hall. This temple is similar to Livermore Hindu temple in California. Check the details here i

Hello All, I'm back after a few months of continuous work, both personal and official. Missed writing my articles , hope to continue my blog regularly from now on !!! We recently again been to few places for a vacation in the beautiful Golden state of California π with plenty of sunshine π, easy access to the beaches π₯½ and delicious food π.. One of our visit was to the Fort Point, a National Historic Site (NHS), located on the south side of the Golden Gate bridge which was once a strategic importance place in securing San Francisco from any attack by foreign countries. Fort Point became a US historic site in 1970. It's a well-preserved old fort and, surprisingly, not crowded. An interesting experience just right under the Golden Gate Bridge. The admission to the fort is free to visit with either a self-guided or docent to lead the tour. Small history - Fort Point underwent many uses over the years since its construction -
